WHY STUDY THE INTERNATIONAL YEAR ONE?

This two-semester course is equivalent to the first year of an undergraduate degree. It aims to help you develop the skills you need to join the second year of a related degree at the University, by building on your pre-existing English language skills and supporting you through the introduction to a British-style university curriculum. Teachers work closely with students to bring you a tailored, personal studying experience and allow you to seamlessly enter an undergraduate degree.

PATHWAY OPTIONS

BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES

Studying Biological Sciences can open up a wealth of career options in many different professional fields. This International Year One pathway offers focused subject-specific modules such as neuroscience, genetics, pharmacology and anatomy. There is also a module in academic English language skills included in the pathway, which aims to improve your English language ability to prepare you for academic challenges. 

BUSINESS MANAGEMENT

A degree in Business Management is valuable for any individual’s career path. This pathway focuses on multiple key areas of modern business in subject-specific modules, with an additional view to improving your English Language abilities to successful academic standard. This pathway presents the opportunity to explore subjects such as economics, accounting, entrepreneurship and business & society.

INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS

International Relations is an insightful subject to study in the 21st Century. As well as improving your use of English language for application in an academic environment, there are a number of insightful subject-specific modules included in this pathway. Politics, international trade, social studies and the modern history of international relations are among some of the key topics included within this International Year One.

ASSESSMENT

Teachers will monitor your progress closely, ensuring you are on track with your studies. You will take part in group projects, presentations and essays, in addition to undertaking exams as part of your overall assessment.
